Personal Profile

Xi Zhiwu, from Gao'an, Jiangxi Province, is a jointly trained doctoral candidate at Beijing Normal University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst), a postdoctoral fellow in Journalism and Communication at Fudan University, and a visiting scholar at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain. Currently a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at Nanchang University and a researcher at the Research Center for Cross-border Dissemination of China’s Excellent Traditional Culture.

Recent research interests

Platform society, youth culture, science communication, and more.

Research findings

Since joining Nanchang University, I have published over 40 papers (including translated articles) in journals such as "International Journalism," "Journal of Southwest University for Nationalities," "Chinese Literary and Artistic Criticism," "Research on Chinese Science and Technology Journals," and "Chinese and Foreign Literary Theories." Many of these papers have been reprinted in full by "Renmin University Reproduction Materials," "China Social Sciences Net," and "Education Digest Weekly." Published monograph: “Identity and Discourse: A Study of Youth Culture in the Context of Platform Society” (Fudan University Press, 2025); translated work: “Hiding in the Light: On Images and Things,” by Dick Hebdige (Chongqing University Press, 2020), among others. The research projects I have led include: the National Social Science Fund Project, the First-Class Funding Project of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the Key Project in Educational Sciences of Jiangxi Province, and the Social Science Project of Jiangxi Province, among others. 2025 Provincial- and Ministerial-Level Youth Innovation High-end Talent Program. Top 1% of Highly Cited Researchers in China for 2024 and 2025.
