On the afternoon of June 26, the 50th session of the "Journalism Transmission" academic lecture series, hosted by the School of Journalism and Communication at Nanchang University, was held in Room B230 of the Humanities Building. Professor Chang Jiang, Distinguished Professor at Shenzhen University and a renowned scholar in journalism and communication, was invited to deliver a special report titled "Digital Journalism: Innovation, Principles, and Limitations." More than 30 master's students, doctoral students, and core faculty members attended the lecture.

Professor Chang began by outlining the disciplinary development of digital journalism, pointing out that digital journalism is not a simple extension of traditional journalism, but rather a new theoretical paradigm formed against the backdrop of digital technology's comprehensive penetration into the entire chain of news production, distribution, reception, and feedback. Digital technology continues to reconstruct the underlying logic of the journalism industry, and is also driving journalism research to shift from a "production-centered" to an "ecology-centered" approach.

He proposed that digital news is not a mere migration of traditional news to digital platforms, but rather a relational practice cultivated by the digital media ecosystem. To resolve the crisis of anomie in digital journalism and promote ethical reconstruction, we must return to the core definition that "digital journalism is the sum total of public information relations built upon the logic of digital media," and reconstruct an ethical framework compatible with the digital ecosystem from the ground up in terms of foundational values.

Professor Chang noted that the research system's heavy reliance on philosophy of technology and speculative methodological approaches can easily lead to a disconnect between theory and industry reality. While the research perspective that transcends occupations and institutions broadens the disciplinary horizon, it also brings about issues such as blurred disciplinary boundaries and weakened professional identity. In terms of talent cultivation, how to clarify the boundaries and achieve organic integration between professional journalism education and public media literacy education remains an urgent question that the development of digital journalism must address.

The lecture fostered a strong academic atmosphere, with the attending faculty and students listening attentively and actively participating in interactive discussions.
