At 7:30 p.m. on September 14, the School of Journalism and Communication hosted a "Convergent Media Forum" in Room A143 of the Humanities Building. Titled "From Classroom to Studio: What Textbooks Don't Teach," the lecture featured our alumna Yu Xiaoke as the guest speaker and was attended by over 100 undergraduate and graduate students.

During the session, Yu shared her insights into the media industry, drawing on her years of professional growth and experience. Addressing topics of great concern to students—including self-awareness, academic planning, internships, and industry trends—she emphasized that modern media professionals must be versatile. She advised students to build deep expertise in their core fields while also developing a diverse skill set, striving to become well-rounded, "hexagonal" talents.

Yu encouraged students to find their true positioning and follow their inner calling for career development. She recommended actively seeking out "zero-to-one" practical opportunities during internships and valuing the accumulation of hands-on experience. Sharing her observations of the current media landscape, she noted that the industry increasingly prioritizes comprehensive competencies, guiding students to align their personal growth and job search plans with real-world industry demands.

The forum was held in a warm and engaging atmosphere, with active participation and interactive discussions. Yu patiently answered a wide range of questions from students regarding their academic and career paths, drawing on her own industry experiences.

By inviting outstanding alumni back to campus to share their expertise, the event successfully built a bridge between current students and industry practice. It helped students gain a clearer understanding of the real media environment, refine their academic and career planning, and provided valuable guidance for their future internships and life choices.
